Social Responsibility

RNA adopted Dowling Primary School in Westbury, Johannesburg as our Social Economic Development Project for BBBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment).

The majority of learners at the school reside in the surrounding area where poverty and unemployment is rife. Drug abuse and violence is also very prevalent and something that the kids are exposed to on a daily basis.

Our first initiative was to arrange a Christmas Party for the kids. On the 04th December 2008, RNA Management and Staff accompanied by Father Christmas, went to the school to hand out gift packs to the learners. This was very well received.

Early in 2009, based on a “wish list” from the school highlighting their needs, RNA decided to build structures sorely needed by the school. The one structure is a foodhall, an undercover area where the learners can eat the meals provided to them by the school's feeding scheme and the others, two additional classrooms to house the Grade R learners.

During all this, RNA was approached by The Wild Child Project, an e.tv in conjunction with other companies' initiative, to join in and assist us with realising our project goals and fulfilling the school's wish list.

The food hall is close to completion and the prefab classrooms, that are being manufactured in Durban, will be delivered during the Easter school holidays.

With our help, Dowling Primary School learners can look forward to less harsh winters, sheltered from the cold during meal times and the little ones, will have their own area at the school where they can safely learn and play.

This project is testimony to RNA's commitment to enrich the lives of our youth, the future leaders of our country!
